02/29/16 Announcements

  • Good morning Euclid High School, where students are standing up together and taking control of their future!  Today is Monday, February 29th.  Happy Leap Day!
  • Attention members of the Renaissance Leadership Council:  The meeting scheduled for today has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1st at 2:00 in the Media Center.  Please make plans to attend.
  • Boys interested in playing tennis come to the Athletic office to sign up. Practice starts this Friday. No prior experience necessary.
  • If you missed the Girls Track Meeting come see Coach Nosse in the Boys Gym.  All physicals and paperwork have to be filled out by March 7th the first day of practice.
  • Attention students attending the Cleveland Museum of Natural History field trip with Mr. Young and Mr. Mita today.  Report to the e-room after 2nd period to load the buses.  We will be leaving at 9:30.
  • Our EHS Culinary students competed in FCCLA Competition at Stark State Community College. FCCLA stands for "Family Career Community Leaders of America." Congratulations to Chef Dan and our outstanding culinary students! The Senior Team members recieved the Gold: Shannon Pettis, Abigayle Richards, Pamela Suvanna, and Emery Gainer. The Junior Team members also recieved the Gold: Aaron White, Alexandra Bryner, Issac Mansi, and Tyreek Felder. Individual awards were earned by Delores Creer Gold for Pastry Arts, Jessica Sevegen Gold for Pastry Arts, Kyle Tatterson Silver for Garde Manager,and Jasmine Banks Silver for Garde Manger. Congratulations on your outstanding finish.
  • Congratulations to the Varsity Chorale Show Choir on an amazing performance and 7th place finish at the Northcoast Show Choir Competition this past Saturday at Twinsburg High School! Another huge congratulations to Senior Brianna Jones for winning the Euclid Outstanding Performer and for also winning the Outstanding Female Vocal Soloist Award for the ENTIRE competition. We are so proud of all of you!

  • Hey Mediators and Junior and Senior Ambassadors! We will be having a special meeting in honor of African American History month after school TODAY in the Panther Den. Our guest speaker will be Jonathan Locust an accomplished EHS Graduate with some great stories to tell. Join us at 2:30 today!
  • Anyone interested in attending a soccer skills session report to the boys gym upper balcony on Friday at 2:00. All boys and girls are welcome even if you have not played before.

  • Attention all hip-hop enthusiasts! Do you love shoes? Are you right now looking at pictures of shoes on your Chromebook or phone? Then head over to the library today, Thursday, February 25th to participate in a program all about shoes. Right after school we will be discussing shoes, their role in hip-hop culture, and viewing a movie about why shoes are so important. So lace yourself up and get there by 3 today.

  • Anyone interested in participating in a Soccer Skills Session report to the boys gym upper balcony today at 2:00. The session will last for one hour and all Boys and Girls are welcome to participate. 
  • There will be a GSA meeting today at 2 pm in Room 209.  All are welcome! In addition the community YMCA located on Babbitt Road has begun a GSA in the evening beginning at 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. This first meeting in the community begins on Thursday February 18th. See Ms. Russo in Room 209 if you have any questions! 
  • Students, Educators Rising is meeting on Tuesday February 23rd at 2:35 in Room 249. If you are curious about the various career options in education we look forward to you joining us. Please see Mrs. Wright for any questions.

  • IE today is for 4th period. 
  • There will be a meeting today for anyone interested in trying out for the Baseball team this year.  The meeting is in room 242.  The meeting will start at 2:35 right after IE.  If you do not attend the meeting or see Coach LeRoy you will not be able to try out for baseball this year.
  • Attention Key Club Members: Please plan on attending the Key Club meeting today at 2:45 in room 121.  We will be taking nominations for those of you who want to run for office, and we will also have special guests Hasani Wheat, Kiwanis Advisor to Circle K at Case Western Reserve University & Thomas Franco, President of the Circle K at Case Western Reserve University speak to the group. See you Thursday!Attention SAVE Environmental Club! The SAVE Club will have a winter hike today. We will meet in the planetarium immediately after school. Please come dressed for the weather. There is still time to pick up a permission slip from Mr. Young or Mrs. Spivey if you would like to come.

  • Attention students: We will be having a GSA meeting on Friday February 19 th at 2 pm in Room 209 All are welcome!   • The Euclid Boy's track team competed at the spire institute complex Last Thursday February 11, 2015. These young men are running at a very high level scoring in 10 of 13 events ... The first place 134 points accumulated was another Team effort. Top performances: 1st place 4x400 relay run by Ron Lee, Melvin Lyons, Darien Sanders and Tyresse Jones- 3:33, Brian Tillman 1st place in the 60m dash 7.19, 200m dash 22.7 (national elite recognized), and the 400m (national elite recognized) only to edge out De’Quan Williams for a 1-2 finish. 2nd place finishers were: Desmond White 60m dash, De'Quan Williams 400m dash, Isaiah Claytor High jump, Spencer Roberts Shot put, Ron Lee 200m dash, and the 4x8 run by Melvin Lyon, Kameron Shelton, De'Quan Williams, Kishuan Carroll. 3rd place finishers were: the 4x8 B Team run by Tyresse Jones, Darien Sanders, Kariel Hayes, and Nick Abercrombie, and the 4x4 B Team run by Nick Rice, Kariel Hayes, Calel Christian, and Nick Abercrombie. The boys track team will be running fast in the spire All Star meet Friday February 19th 2016 in Geneva, Ohio. 19 young men were selected to represent the Euclid Panthers.

  • There will be a Girls Track Meeting today at 2:30 in room 121.  You must be at the meeting if you are running outdoors.

  • On Saturday, February 13, 2016, Euclid High School Instrumental Music students competed at the Ohio Music Educators Association Solo & Ensemble Contest held at Mayfield School. Congratulations to Nigel Nevels (trumpet solo) and Luke Johnson (piano solo) on receiving the second highest rating of excellent in Class A, which is the highest level of difficulty.

  • The results for the February Ohio Math League are in. Congratulations to Luke Johnson for coming in first place. Kennedy Johnson was second, Justin Fike was third, Brianna Moriarty was fourth, Cora Huey and Jaime Geiger tied for fifth. For the year Kennedy Johnson is in the lead with Luke Johnson second, Serena Hollis and Eddie Conger tied for third, and Peter Powell and Cora Huey tied for fifth.
  • Attention yearbook staff--please remember we have a meeting after school today in room 298. Please be prompt--the time to finish your pages is now! See you in room 298 at 230pm.
  • Attention Juniors: the next meeting for juniors is today @ 2:30 in room 201. We will be preparing items for our fundraiser.  All juniors are welcome.

The Euclid Public Library is hosting a series of conversations starting on February 18th that deal with issues of being a young man in Euclid and in America. Please join us after school on February 18th at 3pm in the library as former EHS teacher Morris Ervin talks with you about issues facing you and ways to improve your life and empower yourself. There is no cost to you and you are guaranteed to become inspired and find ways in which you can become the man you always wanted to be.

  • Attention all students 16yrs and older.  If you are interested in working this summer, the Cleveland Indians are now hiring.  They have many positions to fill for various jobs.  For more information see Miss Smith, Guidance Counselor, in the A-J unit office.
  • The Euclid Boy's track team competed at the Spire Institute Complex on Jan 27, 2015. These young men performed well, scoring in 10 of 13 events ... The 149 point, first place finish was a Team effort. Top performances were turned in by Ron Lee - 1st place 4x400 ran , De'Quan Williams, Brian Tillman, and Tyrese Jones- 3:29 second fast time in the state and national elite recognized. Brian Tillman 1st place in 60m 7.18 and 200m 22.9 (national elite recognized). Tyrese jones 1st place 400m 52sec. Adam white 1st place 60m Hurdles 7.03. 2nd place finishes were turned in by De'Quan Williams in the Long Jump, Isiah Claytor High Jump, Chis cooper High Jump, Spencer Roberts in the Shot Put, Calel Christian in the 60m and 200m, Ron Lee in the 400, the 4x800 run by Melvin Lyon, Kameron Shelton, De'Quan Williams, Kishuan Carroll and a 3rd place finish by Cornel Gibson in the Shot Put.
  • The Euclid Boy's track team traveled this past Sunday to Youngstown to make a statement to the state and "they did just that." Only taking our relays to compete against the state's best and solidify top times in the state. Top performance turned in were - 1st place 4x400 run by Darien Sanders. De'Quan Williams, Brian Tillman, and Tyrese Jones- 3:27 running the second fastest time in the state and being recognized as national elite. A 3rd place was earned by the 4x200 team of Ron Lee, Des White, Brian Tilman, Calel Christian at 1:33 running the fifth fastest time in the state and being recognized as national elite. Congratulations on these fine performances.

  • IE today is for 5th period.
  • A HUGE congratulations to the Varsity Chorale Show Choir on their first competition of the season!!! VC received the Class B 2nd Runner Up during the daytime competition and Ashley Johnson was named Euclid's Outstanding Performer. Varsity Chorale advanced into the evening finals competition where they had an amazing performance and won the Overall 4th Runner Up Trophy. Mrs. Ross, Mr. Thorndike and Steffahn are so proud of all of our students. On to Twinsburg!
  • Attention Students and Staff: The Key Club would like to thank those of you who bought flowers and candy for the Red Sale, to raise money for the National Coalition for Homeless Vets. We will be donating $150 to the our homeless Veterans and we want to thank you again for your support.
  • Big Show Crew, it's time to start!!!  There will be an important crew meeting, for all interested, today at 2:30m in the choir room.  Please make plans to attend this short meeting so we can get started!
