Panthers. Today is the last day of school, and before I get deep into my R-Factor message today I would like to address four very special people to Euclid High School. Students if you have had the pleasure of being taught by Mr. Selvaggio, Mrs. Schossler, Mrs. Mellen, or Mrs. Amato, please stop by and thank them for their part in making Euclid High School the special place that it is. Today is their final day with students, and I am appreciative for the opportunity to have worked with such amazing professionals in my first year as principal.

Everyone remember that the way we respond is critical to the outcomes we earn. That matters if we are in school our out of school. Remember that you impact your 20 square feet no matter where you are, and the R-Factor will help you act with discipline instead of default.

You are in control of the voice inside your head. Everyday we tell ourselves stories about the events we encounter. Often times these stories are only partial truths, and tinted with your default voice. Don’t get stuck in a negative story. Your default voice will be quick, careless and convincing. When people get to my office, I often hear, “I don’t know what I was thinking,” “I didn’t mean for that to happen,” “It wasn’t supposed to go like that.” You can break the negative story, and take control of your inner voice with discipline. It starts by controlling your breathing and Pressing Pause.

Morning Announcements - May 16, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Tuesday, May 16, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

THE R-FACTOR - Discipline means the relentless pursuit of the best version of you
Be better today than you were yesterday, and be better tomorrow than you are today. Default is the absence of discipline.
Impulse is undisciplined emotion.
Autopilot is undisciplined habit.
Resistance is the unwillingness to do the work of getting better.
And that means when you operate with discipline, you give yourself more options and control. But when you operate on default, you give yourself fewer options and have less control. When you operate on default, you give control away to external circumstances, other people, and the randomness of life.
Every day is a battle for what directs your life
Intention versus Impulse
On-purpose versus On-autopilot
Skillful versus Resistant
Discipline versus Default
Choose Discipline
Discipline = training, and people committed to managing the responses to the events they face, live a life of discipline over default. Bring out the best in you today by being disciplined in your responses at The Euclid High School.

Announcement for the Biology Zoo Field Trip students - At the conclusion of 2nd period, you will report immediately to the Cafeteria and then to Door 13 to board the buses for the field trip. Morning Announcements - May 1, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Monday, May 1, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

THE R-FACTOR - Oftentimes people talk to me about the “old Euclid” and how things “used to be.” Even I look back on my time as a student at Euclid High School with great fondness, and is a key reason why I came back to my alma mater. Think about all that we have done this year to lay the foundation to explode with growth for our future. This year we:
Brought back Pep Rallies
Staff versus Student Competitions
Homecoming was a banger
Excellent Black History Month Assembly
Big Show was extraordinary
The Music Department has put on several concerts
We have brought elementary students back to campus
We have taken our students to the elementary schools
Parents, teachers, and students have danced with each other at family engagement nights
We have displayed our artwork for the community to see
We have won multiple band competitions
Our CTE Programs have earned state and national recognition
We have visited the Senior Center
For the first time in years we had a Prom off site in a beautiful location. I can go on and on, but we’re almost out of time.
Right now each of us is contributing to the great tradition of Euclid High School. you are adding value to our culture. Culture is what makes Euclid High School a special place to work and learn. We are committed to continuously growing through the shared experience of being a Panther. Culture is not built by what you proclaim. It’s built by what you practice, promote, and permit. We are doing the work now so that you look back on your time at EHS and are proud to be a Panther.

You have the power to influence events and situations, but you do not control them. There will always be things outside of your control that you will have to deal with. Your response is your choice. Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Monday, April 24, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

THE R-FACTOR - Take Ownership of your Mindset - Don’t get stuck in a negative story. Own the thoughts that go through your mind. You are in charge of your inner monologue. There are times where we may get racing thoughts, and at times the voice can be hurtful and negative. When you feel yourself getting into this cycle, you need to break the chain by taking a few deep breaths which will help you press pause, this will get you into the R-Factor Mindset. Then realize that you don’t control events. Your response is your choice and you earn outcomes by the quality of your response. You are in control of your mindset, your choices are your call. Free yourself from the default mindset, by focusing on what you can control.

Morning Announcements - April 4, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Tuesday, April 4,  2023 and these are your morning announcements.

THE R-FACTOR - As you are building your skill this week  I want you to consider how the R-Factor Skills work together. For example, when you Press Pause before you respond, you are thinking and gaining clarity. You’re getting off of autopilot. You clarify the outcome you want, the event you have, and the response you need. The process of pressing pause helps you get your mind right! After pressing pause you are able to pay attention to your inner response, and create the necessary mindset for responding with discipline. If you’re goal this week is to press pause, start by focusing on your breathing, take three deep breaths, calm your body and mind, and respond with discipline.
