Morning Announcements - February 22, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Wednesday, February 22, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

The R-Factor - Discipline does not mean punishment.  It is a Latin word that means “learning”.  Discipline means getting better every day by consistently apply standards and principles to your life.  It is not something that someone does to you.  Discipline is something you choose to do for yourself.

It is time for our Black History Month fact of the day
Did you know John Mercer Langston became the first African American to become a lawyer in the US?
a. He passed the bar exam in Ohio in 1854.
b. He then became town clerk in the city of Brownhelm, just southwest of Lorain, Ohio.
c. 2 generations later his great nephew, Langston Hughes became a world famous author and poet.

Students!  Do you want to play in the Student vs. Staff Basketball game in March?  Only 22 students have signed up so far!!!  Some of the teachers that are playing:  Mr. Howard, Mr. Kelly, Officer Powell, Mr. Toth, Mr. Santilli, and MORE!!!   Scan the QR code on the basketball posters around the school and fill out the form!  You must be referral free for the 3rd quarter to participate.

The LEAD Scholars are excited to see the great work of those who are participating in the Black History Door Decorating Contest. We know people are working extremely hard; therefore, we have decided to add an additional day to put the finishing touches on each of the doors.  Contest winners will be announced on Friday, February 24, 2023. If you wish to participate or have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Davis (H130F) or Mrs. Walling (H279). Good luck to all participants!

All Black History performers meet today at 2:30 pm Auditorium. Thank you.

The African  American Achievement Groups is setting up to celebrate Black History Month! Our first Culter Potluck is today, February 22, 2023 at 2:45-4:00 pm. This event will be held in the Bistro. If you are not a member but received a ticket from Mr. York Or Mrs. Davis you must show it at the door. Let’s make History Kings and Queens.
