Morning Announcements - February 13, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Monday, February 13, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

It is time for our Black History Month fact of the day!
Did you know Bayard Rustin, an LBGTQ rights activist, orchestrated much of the Civil Rights Movement from behind the scenes?
a. Rustin was an openly gay African American who was a key advisor to MLK Jr.
b. He traveled to India in 1948 and learned nonviolent protest techniques from Ghandi, and then taught MLK Jr these same techniques. Rustin played a key role in planning the March on Washington in 1963.
c. Due to his sexuality, Rustin was kept out of the spotlight.
However, in 2013 he was recognized with the Presidential Medal of Freedom!
