Morning Announcements - February 15, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Wednesday, February 15, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

It is time for our Black History Month fact of the day!
Did you know that baseball legend Jackie Robinson’s older brother was also an elite athlete?
a.    Matthew “Mack” Robinson was a track star in the 1930’s.
b.    In fact, he earned a silver medal in the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin.
c.    His performance in the 200 yard dash was only .4 seconds behind Jesse Owens.
d.    His little brother Jackie later broke the color barrier by being the first black Major League baseball player in history.

Reminder All Black History Assembly participants will meet in POD 130F at 2:30pm

There is still time to participate in the Black History Door Decorating Contest!! The LEAD Scholars are asking that each door represent our past as well as our present (For example, Maya Angelou with Amanda Gorman, Wilma Rudolph with Allyson Felix or Jessica Beard, Thurgood Marshall with Ketanji Brown, etc...). We are looking for teams, consisting of no more than 3 students and a teacher, who are interested in designing/decorating their door. If you wish to participate or have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Davis (H130F) or Mrs. Walling (H279).  Contest winners will be announced Thursday, February 23, 2023

The lady’s and gentleman's African-American Achievement groups will be hosting their first Culture Potluck on February 22, 2023 from 2:45 PM until 4:00pm. For more information, see Mr. York in room H240A or Ms. Davis in room H130F.

Students!  If you want to play in the Student vs. Staff Basketball game in March, you must sign up!  There are posters all over the school.  Scan the QR code and fill out the form!  You must be referral free for the 3rd quarter to participate.

Bring out the best in you by pressing pause, getting your mind right, and cutting BCD out of your life, and have a great day at The Euclid High School.
