Morning Announcements - February 6, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Monday, February 6, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

What does this situation require of me? Is a great question to ask, and often we do not ask this question enough. This is a question that should be asked internally before you decide to act. It’s a part of pressing pause. Taking the time to consider what is being required of you in a given situation buys you the time to respond with discipline. When you don’t take the time to ask yourself that very important question you are acting on default.

Here are our staff member of the week and student of the week.
Our staff member of the week is Ryan Minnich!  many students have nominated Mr. Minnich for this award, they say he makes class fun, he is caring, he wants us to be successful, he is a great role model, he always gets the job done, he is understanding, he pushes his students to succeed, and he always gets the job done.  Congratulations to you Mr. Minnich.  Thank you for all you do!

Our student of the week is 10th grader Ahja'Nae Smart.  She is a terrific student. She has good attendance and is always on time. She does her work when it is assigned and works to the best of her ability at all times. She does not get distracted and she is a lovely person to be around. Ahja'Nae is a joy to teach!  Congratulations!!  Ms. Costello will find you for your prize!

It is time for our Black History Month fact of the day!
Did you know that the first African American author and poet to be published was Phillis Wheatley?
a.    Phillis began publishing in Boston before the US was even a country, back in 1773
b.    She was only 12 years old !!
c.    Ready for the real kicker, she was a slave at the time!!
d.    Her owners taught her how to read and write, which was very uncommon, but it showed just how highly intelligent African Americans were if given a chance
e.    She even wrote a poem about George Washington, who called her a genius and invited her over to his house!

In celebration of Black History Spirit week : On Tuesday we encourage staff and students to wear the colors of red, black , yellow or green. Black Excellence History in the Making!

We are looking for teams, consisting of no more than 3 students and a teacher, who are interested in designing/decorating their door.
