Morning Announcements - February 21, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Tuesday, February 21, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

Russell  - THE R-FACTOR - Panthers demonstrate their inner strength by getting involved. Step up, take action in our community, and take pride in the positive impact of your involvement. Show up and be actively engaged in your learning, activities and events. Participate in the variety of opportunities that Euclid High School has to offer.  One such opportunity for your involvement is BIG SHOW. If you don’t know BIG SHOW is our Spring Musical and we are holding auditions today at 4:00 in the choir room. Yes we need performers, but to get involved it’s not just about the performances. We need set and costume designers, we need help with light and sound. If you want to be part of a team that is going to make a positive impact on the community come sign up to participate in BIG SHOW.

It is time for our Black History Month fact of the dayCan you guess the first African American Billionaire? No not Oprah, no not Michael Jordan.
a. The first billionaire was Robert Johnson.
b. He became a billionaire after selling the cable channel B.E.T. in 2001
c. He founded BET in 1979, and went on to own the Charlotte Hornets
d. He was born in Jim Crow Mississippi and moved to Illinois with his parents where he attended the University of Illinois, his path to wealth started from the bottom!

Students!  Do you want to play in the Student vs. Staff Basketball game in March?  Only 22 students have signed up so far!!!  Some of the teachers that are playing:  Mr. Howard, Mr. Kelly, Officer Powell, Mr. Toth, Mr. Santilli, and MORE!!!   Scan the QR code on the basketball posters around the school and fill out the form!  You must be referral free for the 3rd quarter to participate.

Panther of the Week: 12th Grader Braylon Lane!  Braylon’s teachers say that he always asks insightful questions, he does his best everyday, and gets the job done. He is always engaged, stays focused on the material being learned and is a pleasure to have in class!  Congratulations Braylon!

Staff Member of the Week:  Mr. Gurski!  Students say Mr. Gurski is such a nice, fun, and entertaining teacher.  He has good teaching skills and his students say they love science because of him.  Congratulations Mr. Gurski!

Loaner laptops are meant to be daily loaners. You are to return the laptop to room 375 by the end of the day. Parents or guardians of any student that has not returned the loaner laptop will be contacted. Loaners are not for the long term. They are to help you for a day or so. If you need a laptop for a longer period of time due to loss or damage of your issued Chromebook, pay your Chromebook insurance fee and you will be issued a new Chromebook in your name. Fees can be directly paid on Infinite Campus or at the treasurer's office in the cafeteria by the bathrooms. Fees don't go away. Every student is assessed a technology fee of $20 per year. The fee covers the use and routine maintenance of the Chromebook and is a fee that is added every year the student attends Euclid City Schools. All fees must be paid in full before a student can graduate or have their transcripts transferred to another district, so it is best to pay fees each year rather than let them accumulate. If a Chromebook does get damaged, the technology fee will cover the first repair only. After that, the family is responsible for the cost of any further damage or replacement. Pay them now to keep up each year. Again, return the loaner laptop to room 375 at the end of each day. As always, do not leave your Chromebook or charger unattended. Thank you.

Premier show choir, Varsity Chorale, placed first runner up in their division at the Midwest Medina Showcase where they competed and beat out some of the top show choirs in the state of Ohio. Congratulations VC!!! There next competitions will be this Saturday in Alliance, Good Luck!
