Morning Announcements - February 10, 2023

Good morning Euclid High School where we are Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged. Today is Friday, February 10, 2023 and these are your morning announcements.

THE R-FACTOR - The R-Factor Mindset, Panthers must recognize that we do not control most of the events we encounter, My response is my choice, I earn outcomes by the quality of my response and E+R=O is the way life works. When peeling a part R-Factor Mindset one of the most difficult things to grasp is our lack of control. Every day we will experience a variety of events that will challenge us. We have the power to influence events and situations, but we do not control them. There will always be things outside of our control, and we have to choose the best R we can to get better outcomes.

It is time for our Black History Month fact of the day!
Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr. came to Cleveland 15 times during the Civil Right Movement.
Martin used to refer to Cleveland as Alabama North because so many black Clevelanders were from Alabama.
In 1963, after being released from jail in Birmingham, Alabama he hopped on a plane and flew straight to Cleveland to fundraise for the kids who were stuck in jail after the infamous “kids march”, the police dogs and firehoses event that everyone has learned about!
Chances are some of us here at Euclid have family members who went to see him speak and pitched in a few dollars to help pay the bail money needed for the children of the kids march!!!

The lady’s and gentleman's African-American Achievement groups will be hosting the first Culture Potluck on February 22, 2023 from 2:45 PM until 4:00pm. If you haven’t joined already, this event might change your mind. For more information, see Mr. York in room H240A or Ms. Davis in room H130F.

This is a reminder that the LEAD Scholars are looking for teams consisting of no more than 3 students and a teacher who are interested in designing/decorating their door in celebration of Black History Month. We are asking that each door represent our past as well as our present. If you wish to participate or have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Davis (H130F) or Mrs. Walling (H279). Contest winners will be announced Thursday, February 23, 2023.
